When a tooth has accumulated too much decay, the surrounding area is also at risk. Infections will require a tooth extraction. Your extract will usually be done during a regular checkup or a scheduled appointment. To avoid your other teeth from shifting or causing additional problems, the extracted tooth should be replaced. Tooth extractions may also be necessary if a baby tooth is preventing the permanent tooth from coming in or if a wisdom tooth is erupting.
Wisdom teeth are molars that can appear in the back of your mouth around your late teens or early twenties. It is common for wisdom teeth to become impacted due to the lack of entry space. To fix this problem, your wisdom teeth must be removed. Failure to remove erupted wisdom teeth immediately will cause gum tenderness, swelling and severe pain. The sooner wisdom teeth are removed the better. Partially or fully erupted teeth will cause tooth decay, recurring infections and even gum disease. Our team will be there to make you feel comfortable during and after your procedure.
